Overview

Welcome to the Light CO2 Publishing House! Here, we share all things climate-related, whether it be current environmental news, carbon reduction tips, or even opinion pieces. Oh yeah, and our entire editing and publication process is compromised of youth activists like you.

The process to get your work onto Light CO2's high-traffic social channel is so streamlined and straightforward that anyone can do it. To start, pitch your outlined article to us. Then send us a draft, and we'll send back edits. Send us your final, and we'll publish it here. That's it!

Now, if you're looking for a more detailed guide to our editorial process, explore each step below.

Guidelines

Before we get started, take a look at the following information:

  1. Write for Cause: We're here to change climate change. You are too. Bring your passions into your journalism.

  2. Publishing Policy: Write original work, be a youth, and do not submit PR or sponsored articles.

  3. Style Guides: Here, we've got a system in place. Join our chat, write in google docs, and cite your sources.

If you need some inspiration, get started from this Light CO2 template!

Pitching

While we'd love to publish every article we get, some simply don't fit. We are on the lookout for newsworthy, original, and inspirational content that drives action in the climate crisis. Your outline should give us enough detail to understand the subject and your specific take on it. So please, submit one at the bottom of this page to get started.

Drafting

Drafting! And Editing. It's as easy as one, two, three, and if you've made it to this step, congratulations. We'll reach out via email (Gmail required) to add you to the author's chatroom. Over this, you'll send out your draft as a Google Document so one of our editors can leave comments. Revise, and repeat! A pro tip? To get your article published faster, make sure that your draft is as polished as possible.

Publishing

Yay! We're so close. Once our team has looked over and approved your article, Light CO2 will need three things to publish it successfully.

  1. Sources: At least five credible sources are required per article (except opinion pieces). Include these as URLs at the bottom of your document linked or otherwise marked in where you cite each.

  2. Author ID: An author ID is what makes you, well you. It's a one-sentence description of how you're unique and best suited.

  3. Photo (Optional): Including an original JPG/PNG image is not required, but it can help! If you don't include one, our team will find the best one to fit the theme.
